The first in Western New York to provide an aftercare program, Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., offers Grief Aftercare, which consists of several programs designed to help families deal with their loss.
Dove
Releases
At the conclusion of cemetery or church services, we can release seven
white doves. The white doves symbolize a person's soul flying off to a place of
rest. Their beautiful elegance provides more than words can describe. During the
holidays, we release more than 40 white doves from our funeral home. Individual family
representatives who wish to take part in this community event to remember their
loved ones are allowed to release a single white dove in their memory. Check out our coming events to see when our next program is.
Butterfly Release
Every August we provide a "Butterfly Release Remembrance Program." Each family releases a butterfly in memory of the one's they have lost. Guest speakers provide practical ideas for dealing with grief. Participants receive a gift. Music and refreshments are included in this free event. We purposely acquire over 100 butterflies so that each child that attends also receives a butterfly. The coming events section offers a calendar of our next program.
Tribute Video
This video consists of
photographs and music that chronicle a person's life. The combination of
meaningful music with photos have a powerful effect on the grieving person. The
video tends to soften bad memories and reinforce the good ones. This service is also available on our website for the families that choose to use it. Choose "Photographic Memories" when you enter the service details of an individual.
Tribute Candles
Our unique tribute candles that provide a lasting memorial of your loved ones. A picture of your loved one is placed on the front over a background scene with a poem or story on the back. They come with a variety of backgrounds, poems, and stories.
Compassionate Care Phone Line
Certified counselors answer our compassionate care line, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This 800 number, which is given to our families, provides support for the times when no one else is around. It is not intended to replace regular counseling if family members are having major difficulty. This service is there when you just need to talk to someone.
Books of Comfort
This program has been
designed to help families face the many difficult adjustments following the
death of a loved one. We mail out to each of our families a series of four books
designed to help them cope with the death of a loved one. This series of books
arrives to the family 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 11 months after the
death. The books deal with the peaks and valleys that occur during the grieving
and recovery process.
Bereavement Library
Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home has created an extensive lending library, which includes books, video, and audio. They cover a wide range of subject matter to help you through the grieving process. They are available to borrow and return at your convenience. You can view all of our selections under the client care section.
Remembrance Book
Blank diaries are available
to our families so that family and friends may write down any special moment or
event they shared with the deceased. This gives people the opportunity to
express their loss to the survivors.
